Santa Joana is the flagship restaurant of the Locke de Santa Joana hotel in Lisbon, where Nuno Mendes showcases the best of Portuguese ingredients in the dramatic surroundings of a restored 17th Century convent. Keen to attract a local crowd as well as hotel guests, it needed a brand identity that challenges the preconceptions of hotel restaurants and high end dining, and matches the vibrant creative energy of the local independent restaurant scene.

We worked with the Santa Joana team to establish a distinct brand personality that would position it as a fun, relaxed spot for a spontaneous treat, while capturing the bold creativity of Nuno's cooking. As well as setting the tone for the visual identity, we explored how those personality traits could be expressed through every touchpoint, from events programming to uniforms to service style. Bringing the creative, marketing and operations teams together in the process allowed for every detail to be interrogated, and brought to life as a singular, cohesive vision.
